Glenn Murphy will be performing his 'Samhradh' concert in Dungarvan and Waterford City.

Local singer, Glenn Murphy, has spoken of his excitement ahead of about his upcoming summer concerts, 'Samhradh', which will be held in both Waterford City and County.

The concerts are scheduled to take place in Dungarvan's intimate St. Mary's Cathedral on July 10 and Waterford's City's historic Christ Church Cathedral on July 17.

Enthusiastic about the upcoming shows, Glenn told the Waterford News and Star: "I’m excited for this shared experience; to go on a journey with the audience."

He said, “Ireland has a strong music culture", which he plans to put his own spin on.

Having his start onstage with Stage Fright Kids, Glenn began singing lessons at age 9.

Now singing for over 25 years, he admits it's his number one love.

He is delighted to be partnering with the young vocal talent who are the pupils of singing coach Pheobe Dipple, during his Dungarvan show.

“I’m delighted to have the chance to give back and share these opportunities," he said.

Over the years, Glenn has performed annual Christmas concerts; his recent expansion to summer performances aligns with his hopes to grow his music career.

Having released a Christmas album, 'Wintersong', on streaming platforms in December 2025, he is currently working on his own original music.

Earlier this month, on June 5, his single 'Caledonia', was released and is available “anywhere you can stream good music”!

This cover of a song by Scottish singer Dougie MacLean is particularly meaningful to Glenn.

“I used to sing my nephews to sleep when they were babies with this song," he said.

While originally a Scottish tune, Glenn argues that he would see it as more of an Irish song due to its adoption in the Irish music scene.

It was recorded back in February, in Dublin, with composer and sound designer Kevin Whyms.

Glenn is working with musical director David Hayes, who will be back in the Déise after his stint in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin, where he is working as the musical director for the Irish production of 'Oklahoma'.

Glenn is thrilled to be sharing the stage with him and his expertise.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite.ie and more information can be found on Glenn's socials: @glennmurphymusic on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
