The Clock Tower

At a recent meeting of the Plenary Council, Council Executive Seán Dobbs gave an update on the Clock Tower, an iconic landmark on the quay in Waterford.

“We’re providing power to the Clock Tower so the clock face can be activated and running again,” he said.

Although Social Democrat Councillor Mary Roche asked for a specific timeframe on when this would happen, Mr Dobbs didn’t give the council a specific timeframe.

Still, he replied that, “The council did apply for funding under the historic structures fund, so we could do conservation works on the Clock Tower. Unfortunately, that was unsuccessful this year so the council will apply for next year.”

He explained that he believed it was “very marginal” that they didn’t get funding, so he said he would be “hopeful” the council will be successful next year.
