Waterford man accused of firearm offence further remanded

A Waterford man charged with a firearm offence has been remanded in custody for a further two weeks.
On Friday evening, September 11, a 42-year-old man was arrested by Gardaí on Broad Street, Waterford City after allegedly pulling out a firearm in the presence of a crowd of people, including schoolchildren.
Thomas Cullen, of Prospect House, Coolfin, Portlaw, was charged under section 9A and 9(5) of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990, for the unlawful possession of a realistic imitation firearm and for producing said firearm with the intent to cause fear or intimidate others.
On Tuesday, September 15, Cullen appeared via video link before Judge Kevin Staunton. The accused was represented by solicitor Ken Cunningham, who noted that he was subject to a 'continuing psychiatric evaluation'. The matter will be re-visited on September 28.
