South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) attended to a walker in distress on Slievenamon this weekend.

On Saturday (February 15), SEMRA received a call at 19:10 from An Garda Síochána regarding a walker who had become disorientated in gathering fog on the mountain.

The team responded to a forest entrance on the north east side of Slievenamon.

The team’s Land Rovers were able to drive a good distance along a forestry track toward the walker and members then proceeded on foot from the track onto open mountain.

Search and Rescue Dog Association (Ireland) search dog Kody and his handler Sean were in the first search party and they reached the walkers location at approximately 20:47.

The walker was guided back to the waiting Land Rovers, assessed by one of the team doctors and then brought back to their vehicle.

Stand down was issued at 21:35, and everyone got safely off the hill.
