Uisce Éireann is currently investigating reports of water discolouration in the Tycor area and the surrounding areas of Waterford City.
Reports of discolouration have arisen following the outbreak of a widespread fire that engulfed the Tycor Business Centre on the evening of Saturday, May 9.
Uisce Éireann said the discolouration stems from increased water flows from hydrant usage used to tame the fire.
“We acknowledge the frustration and concern that discolouration can cause and thank customers for their patience,” said Uisce Éireann Water Networks Operations Manager, Maura Phelan.
“We expect any temporary discolouration currently being experienced to settle within the next 24 hours as the network returns to normal.”
Customers experiencing discoloured water from their kitchen tap are advised to run the tap for several minutes until it runs clear. If it does not return clear, customers are advised not to drink the water and to contact Uisce Éireann.
Customers experiencing issues are asked to contact Uisce Éireann on 1800 278 278 or avail of their free text alert service.
