Gardaí in Waterford have arrested two people in connection with a seizure of €229,000 of suspected illegal cannabis and THC.
The seizure was part of a joint intelligence-led operation between the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Waterford County Drugs Unit and Revenue Customs Service in Lismore on Monday.
A male (40s) and a female (30s) were arrested and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda Station in county Waterford.
Revenue Customs Officers seized 10.35 kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €207,000 and €22,000 worth of suspected THC in a follow-up search.
Revenue says the seizure is part of ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

The suspected drugs will now go to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Waterford gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
