Tower Hotel's plan to demolish Lombard Street buildings

Neville Hotels submit plans to expand the Tower Hotel onto Lombard Street.
A planning application has been submitted for demolition works at Lombard Street/Rose Lane in Waterford City to facilitate the expansion of the Tower Hotel.
Plans, submitted by the Neville Hotels group, involve the destruction of existing three-storey buildings at 12 and 13 Lombard Street and an existing four-storey building at the corner of Lombard Street/Rose Lane.
A four-storey hotel building will be constructed in place of the demolished buildings, comprising of a meeting/function room, reception area, toilets, warming kitchen, refuse store, two access stairs and a lift.
46 total hotel suites/ bedrooms are planned, comprising of three two-bedroom hotel suites, one hotel bedroom and 12 one-bedroom suites at both first and second floor.
11 one-bedroom suites, two two-bedroom suites and another hotel room are planned at third floor level.
An altered carpark layout is planned to accommodate a total of 76 cars and 10 bicycles at ground floor level.
A decision is expected to be made on the development by Waterford City and County Council by July 25.
Conditional planning permission was granted in August of last year, which included alterations to the front elevation of the hotel, including the addition of a new outdoor terrace with retractable awning and glazed balustrade.
Permission was also granted at the time for change of the ground floor level of the building at No.36 on The Mall, from office space to hotel use.
