Tipperary teenager charged with murder of Waterford railway worker

A 19-year-old male has been charged with the murder of Waterford railway worker Ian Walsh.
On Thursday evening, August 21, Nathan Hanlon was charged with the murder of Mr Walsh at a special sitting of Clonmel District Court.
As reported by Liz Dunphy in the Irish Examiner, the teenager was "charged with Mr Walsh’s murder at 62 Ravenswood Estate on Cregg Road in Carrick-on-Suir on August 2."
Mr Walsh, originally from the Kilcohan area of Waterford city, was found dead in his home in Carrick-on-Suir on Monday, August 4.
Garda Sergeant Denis Ryan told the Court that Mr Hanlon was arrested on suspicion of murder at his home at 1 Castle View, Ballyneale, Carrick-an-Suir, Co Tipperary.
Mr Hanlon, of 1 Castle View, Ballyneale, Carrick-an-Suir, was remanded in custody by Judge Miriam Walsh.
He will next appear before Clonmel District Court on August 26.
Solicitor for the accused John M Joy requested legal aid and that a psychological assessment to be carried out.
Mr Hanlon is due to appear in person before Clonmel District Court on Tuesday, August 26.
