Waterford retirement group enjoys local picturesque walk

Members of the Tay and Mahon Valley Active Retirement Association recently enjoyed a walk to Annes Walk, Annestown.
A spokesperson for the group said the 7pm start had temperatures back to 20 degrees and the walk was relaxing and enjoyable.
The group's next walk will take place on Monday, August 24, to Crough Woods.
The start time will be messaged to members on Sunday, August 23rd, depending on temperature.
The spokesperson also recalled memories of the 1960s, working on building sites in London.
"A popular meal was Bubble and Squeak," he said.
"Ingredients made up of vegetables, potatoes, carrots, peas which were left over from previous days meals in transport cafes, chopped up union was mixed with ingredients then fried on a pan with a little lard," he added.
He went on to comment: "Sausage, bacon and egg added. Food fit for a King. The meal usually served about 10.30am. We were out from about 5.30am and we had a good appetite when food was served."
"My friends tell me the Bubble and Squeak is still popular around London," he said.

Offering advice to the members, the spokesperson said: "In the meantime drink plenty fluids, relax in the shade, stay safe and keep in touch."
