Search ongoing for missing man
Mark Myler was reported missing from Waterford City.
The sister of missing Waterford man Mark Myler has said her family wishes to thank everyone who has been searching for her brother.
Thirty-eight-year-old Mark was reported missing on Saturday, December 7, last.
Nicola Myler told the Waterford News and Star that Mr Myler’s neighbours have been out searching, and people have been very good on social media.
“I want to thank everyone and everyone who is still out searching. I do know they put a lot of effort into finding Mark. I do know that,” said Ms Myler.
In particular, Ms Myler said she saw the Dunmore East Coast Guard post on social media and thanked them for their efforts.
“They've done a huge amount of work, and we are grateful. And especially at the time of year, it is around Christmas."
Ms Myler also wishes to thank the Garda Liaison Officer assigned to her family, Aoife.
“She has been so good to us, speaking to us and giving us updates,” said Ms Myler.

Ms Myler said that Gardaí showed her family CCTV footage that strongly indicates her brother entered the water.
She said that while the footage was not conclusive, the man in the video matched her brother.
Ms Myler said all she can do is walk along the river and hope for news soon.
She asks that if anyone in the area sees something in the water, that they report it so the family can get closure.
The Dunmore East Coast Guard posted on social media on Sunday that they are continuing to assist in the search.
“We have been tasked since Monday last to assist Gardaí with the ongoing search for Mark Myler - we have put mammoth resources into this operation to date with thanks to our own unit assisted by our flank units in Tramore, Bonmahon, Ardmore, Fethard, Kilmore Quay, sadly nothing to report as yet.
“We will be back tomorrow. We would like to thank local boat teams from Waterford Marine Search And Rescue, Waterford City River Rescue and Waterford Harbour Sub Aqua for their efforts over the week - for now, our thoughts are with Mark's family and friends,” said the post.
Last week, the Coast Guard drone unit and aerial unit, as well as local boat units, searched the River Suir and a command centre was set up on the quays.
Waterford Marine Search and Rescue also indicated on Sunday that they would be continuing the search.
Gardai issued an appeal for information throughout the search.
They said:
“Gardaí are seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 38-year-old Mark Myler, who was reported missing from his home in Waterford city on Saturday morning, December 7, 2024.
“Mark was last seen in the early hours of Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in the John’s Street area of Waterford city.
“Mark is described as being approximately six foot two inches in height, of slim build, with blonde hair and blue eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a blue padded jacket with blue jeans.
“Gardaí and Mark’s family are concerned for his well-being.
“Anyone with any information on Mark’s whereabouts is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
Last week, Mark’s sister Nicola and his partner Sarah said Mark was wearing the grey jacket seen in his appeal photo.
They said there are certain routines Mark has not completed and were extremely concerned for his welfare.
