A group of past pupils recently visited Mount Sion Secondary school to present a framed photo of their 50th Class Reunion (June 2024) to Principal, Edward Kennedy.
Mr Kennedy took time out from his busy schedule to provide a tour of the 55-year-old school. The group recalled starting second year in the then shiny new school in August 1970.
Principal Kennedy provided an update on the long-awaited major new school project, which received official approval from the Department of Education in 2023. A design team was appointed 18 months ago and is currently advancing the architectural planning phase.
He noted that the coming years promise to be an exciting time for the school. The new €33 million project is set to be a transformative development, benefiting generations of students and their families to come, in the Waterford area, and significantly enhancing the skyline in this part of the city.
While the visit brought back many fond memories for past pupils, it also highlighted the exciting potential that a new building will bring to the school community.
Mr Kennedy, along with the teachers and staff, continue to provide an outstanding educational experience, making the very best use of the current facilities as they look forward to the next chapter in the school’s development.
