Met Éireann upgrade weather warning to orange for Saturday

The national weather service is warning that "very heavy and persistent rain, with highest accumulations in mountainous areas" is forecast all-day on Saturday.
Met Éireann has upgraded an existing status yellow rain warning, to an orange rain warning for Waterford on Saturday, for the second weekend in a row.
The national weather service is warning that "very heavy and persistent rain, with highest accumulations in mountainous areas" is forecast all day on Saturday.
Met Éireann said that river and coastal flooding is possible and has informed the public that dangerous travelling conditions and travel disruptions are likely.
The status orange warning is now in place from 12 noon on Saturday, September 5, until midnight.
Locally, a similar status orange rain warning is in place for Cork and Kerry, from midnight on Saturday to midnight on Sunday.
At sea, a status yellow gale warning is in place from Howth Head past Dungarvan to Slyne Head, with a notice that southeasterly winds will occasionally reach gale force 8 along Waterford's coast.
