Man robbed at knife-point in Waterford

The incident occurred on the Outer Ring Road

The Gardaí in Waterford are investigating an incident that occurred over the weekend during which a man was robbed at knife-point.

The incident happened on Sunday, March 8, at around 7.20pm, on the Outer Ring Road, when a male was approached by two young males on ebikes.

A spokesperson for Waterford Gardaí said they first asked the time and continued on, however, they returned and demanded the injured party’s jewellery, which he refused to hand over.

"One of the males on the ebikes then produced a flick knife and demanded the jewellery again," said the Garda.
"At this point he complied, handing them a gold chain with a crucifix, a gold Claddagh ring and gold, bangle-style rigid bracelet," she added.

The items taken are very specific and are sentimental pieces.

"The area this occurred was between the John's Park roundabout and the junction for Kilcohan," said the Garda.

The males are described as having Waterford accents. The first one was on a black ebike, which had a purple strip, and he was wearing a red and green jacket. He was of slim build and described as being approximately in his early 20s.

The second male, also on a black ebike, was of slightly bigger build and was wearing a dark grey Montrex jacket with grey tracksuit pants.

Both wore ski-type masks.

They left the Outer Ring Road and headed towards the Kilcohan area.

Anyone who thinks they may have observed these youth on these bikes at any time on Sunday evening, is asked to contact Waterford Crime unit or leave a voice message on 1800 666 111.
