An incident in which a man was seen parking "in an awkward manner" in Waterford city caught the attention of gardaí and resulted in a driving ban.

Geoff Tebay (31), of 5 Maplewood, Ashley Court, Waterford, was spotted by gardaí near the Cleaboy Shopping Centre on April 5, 2025, after parking “in an awkward manner”, Waterford District Court heard.

A smell of cannabis was detected and a roadside test proved positive for cannabis and cocaine.

Mr Tebay was charged with driving/attempting to drive while exceeding the drug limit.

His solicitor, Ken Cunningham, told the court that Mr Tebay’s mother passed away just three weeks before the incident occurred.

On the basis of a guilty plea, Judge Staunton disqualified Mr Tebay from driving for 12 months. He didn't impose a fine.
