The members of Waterford’s Lamh Choir, took great delight in presenting a cheque for €956.43 recently to a presentative of Focus Ireland.

The money was raised by the choir members as part of this year’s national Big Busk initiative that’s held to raise money for the charity organisation, which helps and supports people affected by homelessness.

The choir performed 12 songs as part of their fundraising campaign and were joined by drummers for the event. Lamh is a sign language used by people with an intellectual disability.

“It’s a communication tool we use to sing our songs in the choir,” said a spokesperson for the group, when commenting on the choir to Waterford News & Star.

“It’s a high energy choir and we are loud and love to perform,” she said. The fundraising was organised through a bucket collection on the day and everyone was delighted with the amount raised and with being able to give support to a very worthy charity.
