Waterford City and County Council has said a red flag status remains in place in relation to the confirmed sighting of a particular type of jellyfish off the coast.
The notice confirmed the sighting of 'By-the-Wind Sailor' jellyfish off Ardmore.
The species is similar to the infamous Portuguese Man-o'-War, but with a milder sting and are generally harmless to humans.
However, the red flag remains raised and members of the public are advised to avoid the water.
Lifeguards at Ardmore Beach initially reported sightings of what at first were believed to be Portuguese Man-o'-War jellyfish in the water.
