Ikea submit planning application in Waterford City

Ikea Ireland Limited have submitted a planning application to Waterford City and County Council.
The application sets out intentions to make amendments to the former ‘Mum N Me’ mother and baby store at the Tramore Road Business Park. The store announced its closure earlier this month after fourteen years in operation.
The application outlines plans to make changes to the shopfront and to erect external tenant illuminated signage fronting the Tramore Road.
No additional details have been released at this time.
The Waterford News & Star recently reported that the popular home furnishings retailer Ikea, had been exploring opportunities to establish a new Plan & Order Point in the Munster Region, with Waterford being a ‘location of interest.’
Plan and Order points are smaller Ikea stores dedicated to kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning.
Whilst there are no items to purchase in these stores and take home on the day, purchases made at Plan and Order points can be delivered to the customer's home or collected from partner locations such as Tesco car parks.
The application which was submitted to Waterford Council last week is currently at pre-validation stage, with a decision expected from Waterford City and County Council by June 11.
