The Community Recognition Fund has reopened for its third and final application call for 2024.

This year, Waterford was allocated €1,436,394.

Under this call, €282,701 is available to be distributed between approved projects.

Senior Executive Officer in Community, Waterford City and County Council, Sinéad Breathnach encouraged any group eligible to apply.

“This final round of funding in 2024 is a great opportunity for communities within the target areas to enhance their local facilities and foster integration. We encourage all eligible areas to apply and take full advantage of the fund,” said Ms Breathnach.

Applications will be accepted until 4pm, January 8, 2025.

The fund supports projects in cities, towns, and villages hosting Ukrainian refugees and asylum seekers.

Projects approved focus on developing facilities for benefit of the whole community.

Areas eligible for this call are Dungarvan, Abbeyside, Ballinroad, Tallow and Clonea Power / Mothel.

Waterford City and County Council say these specific areas have significant numbers of arrivals from Ukraine and other countries and may not have received funding in window one or two earlier this year.

Funding may be reallocated if no suitable projects are identified within these target areas.

More information is available from the council's website and social media platforms.
