From abandoned in a field to Waterford’s newest superstar

Nose of Tralee's Izzy Bear Hoban, representing Waterford!

Rescue dog Izzy Bear Hoban has been crowned Waterford’s Nose of Tralee 2026 after an incredible community campaign. Now in the running for the national title with finalists Ireland-wide, Izzy is enjoying her newfound stardom.

Izzy’s online campaign captured the hearts of voters across Ireland, with her heartwarming photos, infectious grin and flirty and fun nature.

This fluffy Mammut Bulldog’s journey to represent Waterford in the national competition hasn’t been easy. Found abandoned and alone in a field, Izzy’s journey has been the definition of a second chance at life. She represents the resilience of every dog left to fend for themselves.

Despite this, her rough start in life hasn’t deterred Izzy’s zest for life in the slightest. Between the love she’s found with her adopted family, her inner seal taking over during sea-swims at Benvoy Beach and charming her way into a free pup cup wherever she goes, Izzy has proven that where you start in life doesn’t define you.

As Waterford’s newest four-legged ambassador, Izzy’s appreciation for the Waterford coast, friendly spirit and love for Gaelic football has brought her from abandonment straight into our hearts.
