Bolton Street carpark

Waterford City parking is still a going concern for Metropolitan Councillors.

Councillor Davy Daniels Jnr (Independent) said at the recent council meetin: "I know I'm going on about it but in the city the Gasworks carpark is full as cars park up on the footpaths.

"Bolton Street might have a couple of spaces, I'd say if the cars that were parked on the footpaths went to Bolton Street, Bolton and Gasworks would be full."

He went on to ask: "Is it possible up on Browne's Lane, that piece of land up there, could something be opened in the meantime?"

Cnoc on Túir

Browne's Lane has been slated for a residential development, alongside Butler Court, Castle Street and Newgate Street. In October 2022, Waterford Council proposed the development, named Cnoc on Túir, or Tower Hill. The area is termed as 'Town Core' within the Waterford City & County Development Plan 2022-2028. The development is to consist of 27 residential apartments.

Cllr Daniels added: "I know we got heads up with a contractor going on, I know we're going to have workshop [...] but I'm just wondering what are we thinking?"

Senior Engineer Roger Noonan responded by commenting: "Regarding Browne's Lane and that space be opened up, I'm not familiar with the history of that but it could possibly be brought up at the workshop if you wish."
