Connected Communities roadshow to visit Ferrybank in Waterford

The event will take place on Wednesday, February 12, in Ferrybank
Waterford City & County Council’s, ‘Connected Communities Roadshow’, will visit the Ferrybank area of the city on Wednesday, February 12, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm The event will take place in the Primary Care Centre, on Belmont Road, Ferrybank. A spokesperson for Ferrybank Community Development Resident’s Group commented on the initiative to Waterford News & Star and said it will present a fantastic opportunity for the local area.
“These roadshows are a fantastic opportunity for local communities to connect, learn about available supports, and discover ways to build stronger and more inclusive neighbourhoods,” he said.
Everyone in the community is encouraged to go along to the event which will be aimed at highlighting the numerous community services available to people across the city and county. The roadshow is also part of a series of events that will take place throughout the county over the coming weeks.
This year series of events follows in the wake of a similar initiative last year that proved to be very successful and popular.
Waterford City and County Council, in partnership with community groups and stakeholders, is hosting the roadshow series, which will take place from now until May.

The Ferrybank group spokesperson highlighted that the roadshow will also provide an insight and guidance for people hoping to set up community groups.
The event will also provide information on sourcing funding for developing community initiatives.
The initiative is spearheaded by Healthy Waterford and Waterford PPN, in collaboration with organisations such as Waterford LEADER Partnership, Waterford Area Partnership, Creative Waterford, HSE, Emergency Services, UPMC Whitfield and Waterford Sport Partnership.
Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. Jason Murphy welcomed the initiative, expressing delight that it’s returning again this year.

In addition to the Ferrybank event the other roadshow events will take place as follows: Lisduggan Shopping Centre, on March 6; Tramore GAA Community Hall, on March 26; Rainbow Hall Kilmacthomas, on April 7; Cappoquin Community Centre on April 30 and St Declan’s Hall, Ardmore, on May 21.
The events are free to attend and members of the public can call in anytime between 5.30pm nd 7.30pm. For the event in Lisduggan, in March, the public will be able to call in between 12noon and 3pm.
