Case dismissed over trespass into derelict house in Waterford
Gardaí couldn't establish ownership of the derelict house on Anne Street, Waterford city.
A trespassing case was dismissed after Gardaí could not establish the owner of a derelict house in Waterford city.
A young man appeared recently at Waterford District Court accused of trespassing at a house on Anne Street, Waterford City.
Garda Seamus Sinnott received a report of people drinking in an abandoned house at 6 Anne Street on the night of May 27, 2026.
Upon entering the house, he arrested a man in his early 20's who had been drinking at the premises.
Garda Sinnott told the court that despite contacting Waterford City and County Council, the owner's identity couldn't be established.
Judge John Cheatle said the charge did not "meet the threshold of evidence" and dismissed the matter.
