A spokesperson for BAM said they had met with the team at the North Quays site in Waterford City and have implemented their safety protocols for the cranes on the site.

"The on-land cranes at the North Quays project will all be tied down, removed or moved," the spokesperson said to Waterford News & Star.

"All relevant safety measures will be put in place," the company said and the horizontal or load-bearing beams will be tied down in line with the company's safety protocols.

"We are certainly doing our best to ensure that the site will be safe," the spokesperson said, "The site will be supervised during the storm."

The company said that they are "conscious of the risks" but that the situation is "well in hand".
