'Oz', an Ardscoil na Mara production adapted from Dan Zolidis’ short play, will premiere next month following a huge amount of work from the school community.
Adapted by Emma Flavin, Elaine O’Brien, Daniel Andrews and Sophie Reynolds, the play follows Beth, who suddenly finds herself journeying through a world suspiciously resembling the film 'The Wizard of Oz'.
But with the Yellow Brick Road sold to foreign investors after a financial meltdown, the Scarecrow reveling in his ignorant bliss, the Cowardly Lion acting like a paranoid sociopath, and the Tin Man embracing his emotional numbness, Beth wonders what role she plays in this classic story gone awry.

The production is a hilarious and heart-wrenching exploration of grief and perseverance on the road to acceptance, and includes some of the great music from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz and Wicked, as well as a few additional numbers that tell the story of these unforgettable characters.
The play takes place on Wednesday February 26 and Thursday February 27, at 7pm in the Ardscoil na Mara school hall in Tramore.
Tickets can be purchased for €12 (plus €1.50 booking fee) from www.gr8events.ie.
