Your Fitness: What drives you?

'For the majority of people that come to me for help with their fitness journey, I often look to dig deeper when trying to figure out what is driving somebody’s motivation' - Cashel Hayden

It isn’t often we ask ourselves the reasoning behind our fitness goals.

We want to lose weight. We want to get stronger. We want to get fitter. We want to be healthier.

The demands we place upon our fitness regime can often have more meaning than we believe when we start reflecting on why we desire these changes to occur and who it is really for.

For the majority of people that come to me for help with their fitness journey, I often look to dig deeper when trying to figure out what is driving somebody’s motivation.

Maybe it’s to look better for their partner, a recent health scare/injury, and a lot of the time it’s simply to look and feel better with more confidence and faith in their ability to follow through with goals they have set.

If you are currently on your fitness journey and feeling your motivation start to dwindle - I urge you to remember why you started.

The journey to become fit and healthy is a choice we are lucky to be in a position to make - trust in this and appreciate that you GET to do this and do not HAVE to do this.

Write down three reasons why you want to invest in your health and fitness - reflect on these each time you feel like giving up and you will likely start to appreciate your own journey a lot more, while being able to see how far you’ve come.

Take pride in each day you step further down your own path.

While we can often have goals that are to benefit others we care about, such as family, friends and even sometimes the need to meet what we believe to be societal norms, it is important that you also focus on what it means to you on a more personal level, think of your health and your confidence in your ability to turn things around when you put your mind to it.

Embrace the challenge and accept that nothing worthwhile is supposed to be easy to obtain. Embrace the journey and learn to celebrate the smaller wins on the path to your bigger goals.
