Some of the audience feedback to 'Cliffcastle House', which ran from Thursday to Saturday, February 26 to 28, included: “Superb script, acting and set, congratulations to all” and “thoroughly enjoyed the play, so natural and realistic, a great night”.
The play was written and directed by James Barry, a co-founder of The Gealach Gorm Theatre Group in Kill.
The play reflected his strong background in drama and community theatre. 'Cliffcastle House' was brought to life by a strong ensemble cast who portrayed the tense gathering of potential heirs to the Cliffcastle estate.
As the late John Power’s inheritance became a competition, eligible claimants gathered, each character contributed to the growing atmosphere of suspicion and intrigue. The cast featured Roseann Power as Laura Hunt and James Barry as George Bowers.
Pat Dunphy played Terry Dunne, while Anne Barry took on the role of Mary O’Brien. Fabian Dalton-Walsh was portrayed by Jack Walshe, and Rosemarie Power appeared as Joan Murphy.

The role of Paul Heffernan was played by Killian Power, with Ned Dunphy completing the principal cast as Tiernan O’Connor. Together, the actors created a dynamic and engaging on-stage presence, capturing the rising tension as their characters confronted questions of inheritance, family connection, and long-buried secrets. The confined setting of 'Cliffcastle House' allowed the cast to focus heavily on character interaction, dialogue, and emotional intensity, making performance central to the impact of the play. The production was supported by a dedicated and hardworking team.
The play was directed by James Barry, with Bridget Cheasty serving as Stage Manager.
Set Design was led by James Barry, while Set Construction was carried out by James Barry and Hugh Corbett. Lighting and Sound/Video were managed by Angela Mulcahy, with Props overseen by James Barry. Costumes were provided by Rosemarie Power. Special thanks to Brian Mulcahy, Valerie Doolan, Denise Cheasty, Abby Mulcahy, Hannah Walshe, Anne Cheasty, Mary Power, Margaret McGrath, Martin Phelan, and Mossie Cheasty for their valued assistance and support.
