Your Fitness: Not making progress - here's why!
It is important that our health and fitness habits are for the benefit of ourselves first and foremost.
I am going to outline two reasons you likely aren’t making the progress you feel you deserve on your fitness journey!
This is something that often sits at the back of people's minds when they ponder on the what if’s and question why they haven’t fulfilled the goals they have set in the past when it comes to their health and fitness.
It can be very reasonable to feel like the world is against you in many ways and it can be hard to ask yourself the hard questions!
This is a big one in my experience, the never ending pursuit of finding the right time to start. While this may seem like a responsible approach, it can do more harm than good when it comes to actually making a change for the better. Believe me, I’ve been there, you are likely never going to be in what subjectively feels like the perfect position to start.
The best time to get the ball rolling will be the present. Perfection is not the goal, consistent and sustainable efforts are what will help to keep things moving forward!
Something we can often underestimate is the underlying reasons behind our daily actions and behaviours. If and when you decide to embark on your health and fitness journey, I think it is important to make sure this is for the right reasons!
Understanding why you are doing what you do - being honest about what is motivating you. In an ideal world - health and fitness should naturally be driven by your desire to live a healthier lifestyle, while also ensuring you are doing it for reasons that are meaningful to you.
Often it can be easy to do it for reasons that might involve the opinions of others, outside pressures or similar reasoning that often originates from those around you.
It is important that our health and fitness habits are for the benefit of ourselves first and foremost, and for those around us as a byproduct thereafter!
