Tramore Allotments

The Tramore Allotments group is thrilled to announce that they have received €80,000 from the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Community Recognition Fund. Over the past 12 years, they have received incredible support and are filled with gratitude towards everyone involved.

The funds will be used for essential drainage, fencing, and preparation work. While there are too many people to thank individually, the group extends special thanks to Cllr Eamon Quinlan, whose unwavering support has been crucial to their success. They also express gratitude to Cllr Blaise Hannigan and Deputy Marc O Cathasaigh T.D. Despite numerous challenges and setbacks over the years, they are elated and almost in disbelief to have reached this milestone. In April 2023, Waterford City and County Council granted planning permission for the development of Tramore Community Allotments in the Riverstown area. With this new funding, they are excited to finally start work and see their vision come to life. Members can now look forward to picking up their spades and contributing to this vibrant community project.

Tramore Lifeboat

RNLI volunteers from six lifeboat stations around the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford gathered recently for a special photocall at Hook Lighthouse. Launching authority Brian Kavanagh and helmsman Tom McConnell, were the chosen representatives from Tramore Lifeboat RNLI. They joined volunteers from Dunmore East RNLI, Fethard RNLI Lifeboat Station, Wexford RNLI, Kilmore Quay RNLI and Rosslare Harbour RNLI. The event marked 'One Moment One Crew' for the RNLI's 200th anniversary which fittingly took place at the oldest intact and fully operational lighthouse in the world. The photocall was filmed and will feature on RTÉ's Nationwide celebrating the RNLI in its centenary.

Also, on August 1, volunteers from Tramore Lifeboat RNLI gathered at Tramore Pier to mark the historic occasion of the RNLI's 200th anniversary. Tramore lifeboat crew joined the operations team and fundraising team for this special photograph taken by lifeboat crew volunteer, Kieran Murphy. President of Tramore RNLI, Frank Nolan captured the significance of the moment in a short speech where he remembered all those who have gone before us and led the way in saving lives at sea in Tramore.

In a similar fashion the local RNLI hopes that others will fill our shoes in the years to come and continue to volunteer with Tramore RNLI. Simultaneously, 238 stations gathered to honour its history, to reflect and stand together united, celebrating the lifesaving mission and inspiring the future generations of lifesavers and supporters.
