Heartiest congratulations to James Upton, Kill St Nicholas, Passage East, son of Robert and Margaret Upton, who was on the Irish Floorball team who recently won the Bronze team medals at the Special Olympics Winter Games in Turin, Italy. James has been a member of Waterford Special Olympic Club for over 20 years and on quite a few Irish teams over the years. He is a very keen sportsman excelling in soccer, floorball and basketball and and he is a great supporter of Passage Hurling Club and also of the Waterford County teams at every level. The entire community is very proud of his achievement and wish him every success in the years ahead.

The week before they headed off to Italy the Mayor of Waterford Cllr Jason Murphy, hosted a Mayoral Reception at City Hall for the team of four from Waterford Special Olympic Club and their Chairman Denis Hegarty and Treasurer Emma Smyth, and family members. The four representing Team Ireland were James Upton, Damien Kirwan, Waterford City, Niall Corcoran a Cork man but a member of Waterford Special Olympics team for some time in Floorball, and Clive Healy, in Alpine Skiing, a native of Waterford City.
The above have been rehearsing for their new play for some time called, 'Tales of the Estuary', which they will present at two venues. The first is coming up on two nights, Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29, at 8pm in the Passage East Community Centre. The production will also be staged on Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5, in Faithlegg School, also at 8pm. Tickets for all shows are priced €5. It's a powerful 60-minute journey through history, resilience, and community brought to life on stage and by all accounts it has plenty in it for locals to enjoy.
