The beloved Tramore Community Market returns on Sunday, July 6, at the Tramore GAA Centre (X91 XD99) from 11am to 3pm. This lively market features a wide range of local food and craft products, offering everything from freshly baked goods to unique handmade items. Waterford City & County Council wishes to advise the public that major improvement works to cycle and pedestrian facilities will begin on the R675 Tramore Ring Road starting from Sunday, June 23rd. These essential works are aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for all road users, with a particular focus on improving infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians. The estimated duration will be approximately a year-and-a-half. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are advised to expect temporary traffic management, potential delays and reduced speed limits throughout the construction period. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as the council works to deliver safer and more sustainable transport routes in the Tramore area.
Congratulations to Joe Dunphy, Ardscoil na Mara TY student, who qualified for the Under 16 world championship in fishing, which will take place in Spain this summer. In addition to that, he has also qualified to represent Ireland in the home nations competition in Northern Ireland in July.
Tramore Eco Group has been busy on multiple fronts recently. In February, trained volunteers assisted with the rescue of a stranded seal pup on Tramore Beach, working under Seal Rescue Ireland’s guidance, during concurrent dune-restoration efforts involving Marram‑grass planting and chestnut fencing. Then in May, the group joined forces with Waterford City & County Council and Tramore Tidy Towns to officially open a new bird hide at Tramore Nature Park, overlooking the back strand; an important habitat for species like little egrets, oystercatchers, herons, and sanderlings. The hide features stone gabions, a wildflower roof and an informative bird-identification board.
