Kíla will be performing at Bank Lane

Kíla Live, August 24, Bank Lane.

Bank Lane is thrilled to announce iconic Irish trad-fusion vanguards Kíla are returning to Waterford on August 24, with local support from The Knockadollys. Spanning five decades, Dublin octet Kíla have been spearheading trad-fusion since they began in 1987. Such is the multi-faceted nature of their music that they’ve performed at Jazz, Rock, Celtic and World Music festivals in 35 countries on five continents.

They’ve released 20 CDs, co-composed music for three Oscar nominated animation films and composed Emmy nominated, IFTA and Greison winning scores. While rooted in Irish Trad, their music has absorbed influences from a multitude of other genres such as Latin, Reggae, Rock, Classical, Funk, Jazz and World Music in general.

They formed in Coláiste Eoin -a school famed for musicians such as Davy Spillane (Moving Hearts), Liam Ó Maonlaí and Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Hot House Flowers), Cormac Breathnach (Deiseal), Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Dave Odlum (The Frames) and more. On weekend afternoons they’d busk, then later on perform at pub sessions, book launches, exhibition openings or political rallies.

Bluegrass Festival, August 23 to 25, Dunmore East.

The Dunmore East Bluegrass Festival will feature some exciting international and homegrown talent from August 23 to 25 this year.

The festival incorporates musicians from all over the world, bringing their take on bluegrass/country music to Dunmore East. Along with a diverse musical programme, the festival features free acts along with fiddle and guitar workshops.

This years acts include Hank Wangford, Ashlee Watkins and Andrew Small, Mons Wheeler Big Band, Woodbine and more.

Cash Returns, September 14, Theatre Royal.

Cash Returns has been hailed hands down the greatest and most exciting Johnny Cash and June Carter Tribute in the UK, Ireland and beyond by 'Man In Black' fans everywhere.

It is regarded as one of the best touring live music shows in the country with a fan base that grows daily with them having recently picked up ‘Best Tribute Band’ at the ‘Hot Country TV Awards’ and Best Tribute Show at the 2022 ‘Northern Ireland Country Music Awards’, for the second year running.

The show is fronted by the award-winning JP Mac as Johnny Cash, whose baritone voice and tone is scarily uncanny to that of the Man in Black himself with even an official accolade of support coming from Johnny Cash’s drummer of near 40 years W.S (Fluke) Holland, who was completely blown away and regarded their tracks as ‘quite amazing’ on his radio show in Tennessee.
