Iconic farce comedy 'Out of Order' being presented in Dungarvan this month

Dungarvan Dramatic Club are presenting their iteration of 1990 farce comedy Out of Order this month.
Directed by Des Feeney and Paul Coffey, Dungarvan Dramatic Club are presenting their iteration of 1990 farce comedy Out of Order this month.
Written by English playwright Ray Cooney, Out of Order enjoyed a long run at the Shaftesbury Theatre and has since had many subsequent East End runs over the last 34 years.
It has been performed by a number of amateur dramatic groups in Ireland to great acclaim, most recently by Ballycogley Players, who came third in the All-Ireland Drama Finals with their production of the play last spring.
As with many other Ray Cooney plays, it features a lead actor, in this case a junior UK minister, who has to lie his way out of an embarrassing situation with the help of an innocent side-kick who gets more and more embroiled in the increasingly tangled tale improvised by the lead character as events unfold.
The action takes place in a suite in a posh London hotel and revolves around accidents caused by a defective sash window and involves a ‘dead body’ that must be hidden, as well as many other chaotic events that unfold over a two-hour period.
The play is presented by Dungarvan Dramatic Club, who for more than 80 years have succeeded in upholding the aims of the club’s founding members “to foster and develop drama by the production of plays”.
The Club has produced well over 100 plays during this time.
As well as the production of plays in a number of venues in the local area, the Club has diversified and performed Street Theatre with cast numbers being swelled by the involvement of a number of community groups and individuals, for whom drama was a new experience.
The upcoming production of Out of Order runs at Dungarvan Town Hall Theatre from November 20 to 23.
