US fast food chain Popeyes has announced the opening date for its first Irish restaurant.

The so-called "New Orleans born" chicken brand will open its doors in Blanchardstown on June 6th.

Around 80 jobs have been created for the outlet at the Green Mall.

It is also expected to add a location at Liffey Valley shopping centre in the coming weeks.

Tom Crowley, Popeyes® UK and Ireland CEO, said: “We are so excited to be opening the first Popeyes® in Dublin, Ireland next month. There has been such an incredible appetite to bring the brand to Ireland, and we are pleased to now officially announce its opening on June 6th!

"We’re going to celebrate the Blanchardstown Centre opening in true Popeyes® style - starting early on the day with amazing giveaways, including exclusive brand merch and our famous Louisiana chicken for the first customers in line.

"Opening Popeyes in Ireland is an incredible milestone for the brand - a testament to its global reach and the incredible demand for its shatter crunchin’ chicken. We can’t wait!”
