Works progressing on the South East Greenway

The South East Greenway in Glenmore.
At the May meeting of the Piltown Municipal District, updates were given regarding the local schemes.
According to Director of Services for Kilkenny County Council Sean McKeown, works along the South East Greenway are progressing on time.
Regarding the Lot 5A (the 5.5km route from Ferrybank to Curraghmore), he said that “works are continuing to schedule with c.90 per cent of the sub-base completed. Works at a number of agricultural crossing locations are also underway.”
Mr McKeown continued: “The Project Landowner Liaison Officer is continuing to engage with landowners adjoining the Greenway in relation to boundary treatment and crossing points, as per the Charter for Accommodation Works. The Tender Assessment and Recommendation Report has been finalized and issued to TII (Transport Infrastructure Ireland) for approval. It is expected to have this appointment process concluded in May."
“The proposed trailhead car park at Ferrybank will be accessed from the new Link Road between the Belmont Road and Abbey Road. Following AA screening, it has been established that a Part 8 planning application can be progressed for the Link Road," said Mr McKeown.
On the Greenway Link to Glenmore, he said: “We await a decision on the Rural Regeneration Development Fund (RRDF) funding application, submitted in February, to advance this project."
On the Greenway Link to Slieverue, he said: “The Feasibility and Route Selection Report are completed. Consultation is ongoing with the TII Structures Section prior to commencing the planning process."
Regarding the Woodstock (Instioge) to South East Greenway Link he said RPS Consulting Engineers Ltd., were awarded the technical consultancy services contract which provides for feasibility, route selection and progression through planning.
