"It was with great sadness that I learned of Marion’s passing.
"It was Marion who brought me along to my first official event as Age Friendly Ambassador for Waterford, the inaugural Age Friendly Ambassadors Day at Slane Castle, in May 2024.
"I will always remember that day and the encouragement and support Marion gave me.
"Marion had a wonderful gift for bringing people together, encouraging them to get involved and making everyone feel that their contribution mattered.
"Marion gave so much of herself to supporting older people and strengthening our community.
"Her energy, passion and unwavering commitment touched many lives and I feel honoured to have known her.
"My sincere condolences to Jim, Jennifer, Eoin, Niamh, Aoife and all of Marion’s family and friends. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered."
