Waterford New Communities Network excitedly gearing up for busy 2025

Waterford New Communities Network (WNCN) held their first AGM at Central Library.
Last year was an incredible year for the Waterford New Communities Network (WNCN).
The organisation help people settle and connect with one another here in the Déise, whether they arrived in the last month or the last decade.
In 2024, they successfully established a community hub in the Cultural Quarter on O'Connell Street and supported the One Waterford, One People concert.
A particular highlight was the Slice of Culture Festival, which took place in Wyse Park last September.
The non-profit voluntary organisation held their AGM last week upstairs in the Central Library to over their 2025 Action Plan and some other organisational matters.
Chair of the organisation Csilla Czelvikker and Secretary Flor O'Mahony went through the various events and projects that WNCN are setting their sights on this year. They pair themselves are Déise transplants with Csilla hailing from Hungary and Flor coming from the faraway realm of Cork.
There was a great turn out for the AGM, with people coming to volunteer for the different evens scheduled for later this year.
Next month is Anti-Racism Month, so there will be a number of opportunities for participation. On March 19, the organisation will be participating in the Volunteer Recruitment Fairs in partnership with SETU on their Cork Road Campus.
In honour of International Women's Day, there will be a number of events to highlight the achievements and contributions of migrant women in Waterford, organised by Waterford Integration Services.
WNCN are registered to participate in this year's St Patrick's Day Parade. The diverse communities of Waterford are often the highlight of the event.
On March 21, there will be a celebration of the New Dara Collage at the Creative Hub on O'Connell Street.
There is a symposium in the works, with workshops and discussions that address racism and promote unity.
From this month until Summer, there will be a number of opportunities for people to meet and connect through the Connecting Communities Roadshow Participation, which WNCN will be participating in.
