Another Status Yellow weather warning has been issued for Waterford this weekend with Met Éireann noting that localised flooding is possible as strong winds are set to buffet the south east coast.

The national forecaster has issued the wind and rain warning for the south and west coastal counties of Ireland, from 2am to 3pm on Sunday, with Waterford one of the counties set to suffer the effects of the "very strong and gusty southerly winds".

In addition to the windy conditions, Met Éireann has warned that "spells of heavy rain" during the weather warning may lead to localised flooding and poor visibility.

Met Éireann has also warned that poor visibility and the possibility of fallen trees and loose debris could cause difficult travelling conditions in the Déise on Sunday.

The overall weather forecast for Waterford this weekend suggests that after a calm start to the weekend "wet and windy" conditions are to be expected with "widespread rain".

"Some heavy falls with spot flooding possible," the meteorology service has forecast, "The rain will gradually clear eastwards through the morning and afternoon but it will remain windy with scattered blustery showers following from the west, some of them heavy with isolated thunderstorms."

Met Éireann says that highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees are to be expected but that Sunday night will bring clearer spells and scattered showers.

Lowest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in fresh southwest winds, easing a little overnight, Met Éireann said.
