A leading travel journalist who highlighted Waterford among his top destinations has been presented with two prestigious awards.

One of Ireland’s leading travel broadcasters, presenters, bloggers, and podcasters, Ed Finn, is celebrating on the double this week after being awarded Travel Media Broadcaster of the Year 2025 at the CIE Travel Awards and National Broadcaster of the Year at the prestigious Travel Extra Awards 2025.

Ed presents 'Ed Finn's America' on Virgin Media One, 'The Travel Show' on Virgin Media One, and has weekly features on Sunshine Radio, Classic Hits FM, Radio Nova, and 'Today with Claire Byrne', on RTÉ Radio 1. He also hosts a weekly one-hour programme, The Sunday Show, on Sunshine Radio every Sunday evening. Ed Finn's America attracted a large audience from November to January 2025 on Virgin Media One and Three, airing twice weekly across both channels.

Throughout 2024, Ed also featured travel gems and destinations all across Ireland, shining a spotlight on the Sunny Southeast including Limerick and Waterford to name but a few.

Commenting on the award wins and upcoming shows, Ed said: "It's been a really fantastic start to the year for me. These awards are greatly coveted amongst the travel media, I'm truly thrilled to have won two for my work and passion in promoting travel. I love being able to shine a spotlight on our magnificent Irish travel destinations."

HIs first discovered his love for travel on a school tour to Switzerland, Italy, and France at Pres in Cork.

In 2024, Ed travelled extensively around Ireland, emphasising rural tourism in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Looking ahead to 2025, he says: "Throughout 2025, I want to broaden the rural tourism spotlight and highlight even more off-the-beaten-track destinations, hidden gems, and attractions from all corners of Ireland."
