One of County Waterford's most active and successful recreational and sports clubs is holding a very significant anniversary event this weekend.

The Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club is holding a photo exhibition as part of its 80th anniversary Sailing Festival which is taking place this weekend.

Beginning on Friday, May 15, the event will culminate on Sunday, May 17 and will include a photo exhibition all weekend in the clubhouse. 

Everyone is welcome to walk in and view the archival photos.

A talk titled, 'Look back in Time', by Donal Walsh will take place at 8pm and is sure to be of interest to sailors and non-sailors, and everyone is welcome to attend, what will be a free event.

The festival weekend featured a crab fishing competition for children and a blessing of the boats ceremony, which is an old maritime tradition.

Dungarvan Brass Band marked the occasion. 

An angling competition is taking place today and as part of the festival weekend those visiting are reminded that Dungarvan Harbour Sailing Club is always open to new members.
