Waterford club congratulates ‘true pioneer of Ladies Gaelic Football’ on Lifetime Achievement Award
Ballymacarbry's Caitríona Casey was honoured with the GPA Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Football Legends Lunch in Croke Park
Ballymacarbry Ladies Football Club has extended its warmest congratulations to Caitríona Casey on being honoured with the GPA Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Football Legends Lunch in Croke Park.
Caitríona has been a true pioneer of Ladies Gaelic Football, not only in Ballymacarbry and Waterford but across the country.
Long before ladies football became the elite sport it is today, she was redefining what was possible on the field.
As a driving force behind the dominant Ballymacarbry and Waterford teams of the late 1980s and 1990s, Caitríona established herself as one of the greatest players of the game.
Her remarkable career includes five All-Ireland Senior Championship titles with Waterford, 10 All-Ireland Senior Club Championships with Ballymacarbry, four All-Star Awards and countless Munster and national honours.
Retirement has done little to lessen her impact on the game.
Caitríona has remained deeply committed to Ladies Gaelic Football through coaching, mentoring and promotion of the sport.
At the Football Legends Lunch, where she was honoured alongside Dublin legend Tony Hanahoe, GPA CEO Tom Parsons paid tribute to both recipients, praising their outstanding contributions to Gaelic games.
Everyone in Ballymacarbry Ladies Football Club is immensely proud of Caitríona and this thoroughly deserved recognition.
Her achievements, both on and off the field, have left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire players of all ages.
