Waterford City 'well served' for parking options

Bolton St is one of the more popular car parks in the city.

The issue of parking in both Waterford City and County was raised at the recent Plenary meeting. Councillor Davy Daniels Jnr asked: "Is it possible to open suitable lands and properties, particularly in the centre, with a view to convert these to facilitate additional parking?"

He added: "For example, in Waterford city, we have space in Brown's Lane,  and Newgate parking. If these were converted, we could hold and take an additional 500 cars into the city."

Director of Services Michael Quinn responded: "I think the city is actually quite well served with parking. You have a range of parking options, with the exception of a very busy weekend."
