More than 100 people have taken part in an international singing event to celebrate Ireland’s EU presidency in Waterford.

The event, held on behalf of Waterford City and County Council, took place at the Central Library on October 20 and saw 120 performers and audience members gather for a celebration of music and community.

“The library was filled with music, laughter and a wonderful sense of community throughout the morning, highlighting the power of music to bring people together, bridge generations and strengthen our sense of belonging to a wider European community,” said a spokesperson for the council.

The event opened with a welcome from the City and County Librarian, Mary Conway, who spoke about the significance and privilege of Ireland hosting the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.47
