The aftermath of Storm Chandra and the extremely high levels of rainfall over recent days are still causing problems in certain parts of Waterford.

On Saturday morning, January 31, Waterford City & County Council - on behalf of Met Éireann - issued two separate weather alerts relating to road conditions in the county.

The Inner Ring Road - the R709 - is flooded at SuperValu and is closed but Waterford Council crews are attending the scene.

In a separate alert the local authority advised the public to be aware of 'ponding water' on roads in the eastern part of the county.

A spokesperson for the local authority urged motorists to "drive with care".
