No access to popular Waterford swimming spot from this morning

There will be no access to the Guillamene swimming cove in County Waterford from 8 am this morning, Wednesday, August 12, until further notice.

In an online post Newtown and Guillamene Swimming Club said the temporary closure was to to facilitate new ladders being installed.

"A boat will launch via Newtown Cove at 8 am tomorrow morning carrying the gear needed to facilitate the works," noted committee member, Claire, on behalf of the club.

The public were also asked to note the boat will also return via Newtown Cove this evening.

"The boat will take all the necessary precautions," noted Claire.

"We would ask swimmers to be vigilant when swimming there around launch and return time and to heed all warnings," she added.
