Men from Waterford who fought in the Spanish Civil War were remembered at a poignant ceremony recently in the city.
Mayor of Waterford City & County Cllr Seamus Ryan, gathered with committee members and members of the public at a wreath laying event which also included the unveiling of a plaque at the Spanish Civil War Memorial in Waterford city.

The event was held in remembrance of the men of the Waterford International Brigade who, in 1936, took up arms to fight for democracy in the Spanish Civil War.
