Thousands of visitors thronged into Waterford City over the weekend as Europe’s City of Christmas officially launched this year's festive celebrations with the opening of the Winterval Festival.
Photographer for waterford-news.ie and Waterford News & Star, Joe Evans was there to capture the excitement of the opening night when Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr Jason Murphy and Santa Claus joined forces to delight those in attendance with the switching on of the Christmas lights. The ceremony in John Robert’s Square marked the beginning of the 12th annual Winterval festival which will continue until December 23.
