Warm weather spell taking its toll on Waterford roads

Waterford Council has confirmed that there have been issues with roads resulting from the warm weather spell.

Cllr John O’Leary expressed concern over the matter last week when he asked the Council’s roads department for clarity over how the warm weather has impacted our road network.

He said: “We’ve had some wonderful weather and we’ve done a lot of good work on roads in recent times. But is it a possibility that we need to treat roads now that have become damaged during the very hot weather?” 

Maria Goff, Senior Executive Engineer at Waterford City and County Council, said there have been issues on the ground in recent weeks resulting from the sunny spell.

“In regard to road damage, during the recent weather spell we have had issues on the ground. We’ve changed various operations on the ground to deal with those issues.”
