Minister of State for Planning & Local Government, John Cummins, has confirmed that €2 million in funding will be provided from the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme for the replacement of the sea wall at Clonea Road, Dungarvan.

The proposed works are designed to improve the overall structural condition of the flood wall located on Clonea Road.

It is intended that the works will reduce the likelihood of wave overtopping during extreme tidal events. Waterford City & County Council will proceed to tender for the works in the weeks ahead.

“I’m delighted that following extensive engagement with Minister Moran and teams in WCCC & OPW, approval has been given to proceed with the repair and replacement of the wall along the Clonea Road, which has been vulnerable to flooding in recent years.

“This is a project which I have worked to advance over a considerable period, and I’m delighted that approval has been given to proceed with the project. This is really important to those who use this heavily trafficked route but, most importantly, for the residents in Sallybrook and Sea Park,” said Minister Cummins.
