Update on roadworks in Piltown

Traffic Diversion.
The latest updates on the Local Council's Roadworks Programme were shared at the Piltown Municipal District meeting this week.
Along with road works notices, Area Engineer John Tennyson informed the council meeting that the public notice and submission period regarding the the North South Link Road had ended and that a consultant is actively developing response based on the submissions.
Consultants have been appointed and are currently familiarising themselves with the with project of the Abbey Road and Belmont Road upgrades, the meeting was told.
On the N29 Port Road Upgrade, Mr Tennyson said that the council expects that a consultant will be formally appointed in the coming days, similarly, tenders were received by the council at the start of November for the works under the Piltown Rural Regeneration and Development Fund and a consultant will be appointed in the coming weeks.
In the last month, the council has completed the preparation works for some significant pavement improvements, including at the LS7419 Chapel Street Junction, as well as at the Fairways Estate and at the LS75772 at Comeragh Close.
A series of other works are underway;
Low cost improvements have been completed at LP1038 The Sweep, LP1042 Rochestown Bends, LP3401 Ballinaroughery Bends, and at the LP3401 Kilmacow Upper where works have been completed but are awaiting landscaping. Low cost improvements are in progress on the LS7459 Rossinan and at the LS7488 at Tullogher.
Works associated with the Local MD Grant, at the Kilmacow Sports Complex Bridge Assessment are awaiting a final report while the St. Beacon's NS lining is complete. The Granny Amenity Barrier works are in progress alongside the ramps and public lighting at Mullinavat GAA. The Listerlin improvement design is currently awaiting a draft report.
Drainage scheme works are underway at LP1035 Templeorum and have been completed at LS5113 Listrolin as well as LS7514 at Carrickcloney, LP3429 Scartnamoe, and notably at LS7506 Forestalstown.
Active Travel works are underway across the Piltown area, the Fiddown Village improvements have been completed. The Mill Road footpath design is awaiting an ecologist who has been procured to carry out AA screening for the project.
The council's climate action works are being worked on at the LP3412 Abbey Road drainage improvement which has been completed as well as the works at the LP1042 Mullinavat Bridge. The works are LS7472 Murtaghstown are currently in progress.
The completion of the various works were welcomed by the councillors at the Piltown meeting.
