Uncertain times ahead for Homebase Waterford

Homebase Waterford is located in Farronshoneen.

The future of Homebase Waterford looks to be uncertain as news unfolds about their parent company.

HHGL Ltd, trading as Homebase, are going into provisional liquidation. 

The Range

Private merchandise company The Range is set to take over a large chunk of Homebase in a bid to save 1,500 jobs.

However, there has been doubt cast over 1,700 more jobs. 

The Range is expected to be involved in the purchase of up to 75 stores, including Homebase's Irish shops.

Teneo

Teneo, which has been running a sale process in recent months, is expected to seek buyers for nearly 50 remaining Homebase stores once it is appointed as administrator.

According to Sky News, administrators are being organised to prepare a 'pre-pack sale of scores of Homebase stores amid hopes that a significant number of the company's remaining jobs can be salvaged".

Waterford News an Star contacted Teneo about the future of the Waterford branch. 

A statement released on behalf of the Joint Provisional Liquidators read: 

"On 13 November 2024, Damien Murran and Enda Lowry were appointed by the High Court of Ireland to be Joint Provisional Liquidators of HHGL (ROI) Limited trading as Homebase.

"At this time, the Homebase stores continue to trade in Provisional Liquidation whilst the Joint Provisional Liquidators consider options for the business.”

Homebase Waterford did not wish to make a comment when contacted.
